About me

I've spent the past 16 years earning a living as a full time translator from Japanese to English and I have built up a considerable expertise in this field. One of my clients has stayed with me for all of that 16 years. My work is accurate and natural.

I am an Australian currently living in Australia, and I have lived for a number of years in Japan. I have a degree in Asian Studies with specializations in Japanese language, literature, history and religion. I also have majors in Geography (urban planning, etc.) and Psychology (environmental). I have passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Test at the highest level.

I have worked across a wide variety of fields, with primary specializations in business communications and photographic products. Working through agencies, my current clients include Casio (cameras, watches, etc), Sony (cameras), Nikon (imaging products such as microscopes), Hoya (optical technologies), Isuzu (trucks), Kinokuniya (books sales), Ito En (retailing), Yokohama Rubber (tires), Hoshino Gakki (musical instruments), KYB (vehicle suspension), Dowa (mining and environment), etc. Documents translated include annual reports, press releases, promotional video subtitles, internal corporate memoranda, CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) documentation including accounting rules, production of advertising copy, editing work of other translators, general business correspondence, and United States visa application documentation.

I have a keen interest in photography and keep up with the latest developments in that field, and I would be keen to explore the potential for working directly (and if required, exclusively) with a photographic manufacturer in such areas as manual translation, public relations, etc.

Keywords: United States visas, annual reports, CSR, corporate social responsibility, video subtitles, photography, camera manual, manufacturing, watches, press release translations, imaging products, retailing, environment, public relations, marketing materials, checking and editing, experienced, accurate, natural.
