Hello!
My name is Aline and I live in Orange County, California. I have an American father and a Japanese mother, and was born and grew up in Tokyo, Japan. I am a native speaker of both English and Japanese, but since I received my education in English, I conside myself a native English writer (when it comes to translation).
I believe my strength and where I differentiate myself with other interpreters and translators is that I have a true understanding of both the Japanese and American cultures, and because of this, I bring a whole different level to my translation work, and especially to my interpreting work.
There are many people who can speak and write both languages, and there are many who can translate from one language into another - but with correct grammar, correct meaning, making it easier for the enduser to understand?
That is where I am different.
I serve as a bridge between the two cultural words where sometimes the two sides run parallel and unfortunately, there is misunderstanding and nothing is resolved...
Have you ever used a translation software and thought, this is NOT at all correct!!
That is because the words are being translated, but not the MEANING behind those words.
Because of my family background and where I grew up, my knowledge of the two cultures is natural~
I have worked on all different types of translation and interpretation work - medical, educational, literary, cosmetic, marketing, entertainment, childrens books, essays, interviews... I have experience in the entertainment industry, working for a Japanese company making tv commercials in West Hollywood; in the cosmetics industry, translating market research from Japanese to English; software company - personal translator and interpreter for the Japanese CEO here in Orange County; and have been involved in Childrens Animation Work (translation, voice-over from Japanese to English) for over 5 years!!
I have interpreted for the NFL, the MBA, Japanese cable TV producers and directors, actors and actresses...
