このことに対して、一方では、国家のために命を失った人びとへの慰霊が民間に任されているのは不適当であり、国家は靖国神社への関与を強めるべきであるという声がある。内閣総理大臣による靖国神社参拝は、そうした運動を背景になされている面がある。しかし一方ではこれに対する反対も根強い。仏教やキリスト教関係者を中心に、内閣総理大臣の参拝に付随する靖国神社に対する公費の支出は、憲法のいわゆる政教分離規定に違反するものであるとして、数多くの訴訟が提起されている。この司法の場を中心に展開する靖国神社と国家との関係にまつわる紛争が、靖国問題である。しかもこの問題は外交とも絡んでくる。靖国神社には、太平洋戦争に関して開かれた極東国際軍事裁判（いわゆる東京裁判）によって戦犯とされた人びとも、戦没者として、合わせて祀られていることから、内閣総理大臣による参拝のたびに、中国や韓国などから批判を受け、外交問題を生じさせているからである。 | Translation - Spanish
Frente a esto, por una parte hay quienes dicen que es inapropiado poner en manos de privados las honras fúnebres de aquellos que perdieron la vida por el Estado y, por lo tanto, éste debe reforzar su participación en el templo Yasukuni. Que el primer ministro rinda culto allí, tiene en parte dicho movimiento como trasfondo. Sin embargo, por otra parte la oposición también está profundamente arraigada. Principalmente para budistas y cristianos, los gastos que acompañan esta acción del primer ministro, violan el denominado principio de separación de la Iglesia y el Estado estipulado en la Constitución. A causa de esto, se han presentado muchas acciones legales. La controversia Yasukuni es el conflicto judicial en torno a la relación entre el Estado y el templo, pero además, involucra a la diplomacia. En Yasukuni, se honra también como caídos a los que fueran considerados criminales por el Tribunal Militar Internacional del Extremo Oriente (los llamados Juicios de Tokio). A causa de esto, cada vez que el primer ministro rinde culto en el dicho templo es criticado por China y Corea del sur entre otros, con lo que se producen problemas diplomáticos. |
