DEF – In the case of briquettes formed in a plunger press, the maximum test pressure at the working face of a test plunger before a briquette sample is crushed, under standardized conditions. Source, fiche 2, Défintion 2 - compression strength

CONT – Test for compressive strength of plastics. Compressive strength (lbf/in² or kfg/cm²) = load (lbf or kgf)/a.b (in² or cm²). Standard test methods: ASTM D795, BS 2782 method 303, ISO R604. Source, fiche 2, Contexte 1 - compression strength

OBS – compressive strength: ... usually expressed in pounds of force per square inch (psi) of surface affected. Source, fiche 2, Observation 1 - compression strength

disagree  Tony M: 'fraid not, Arnold! This is not about testing it for 28 days, it's all about testing it after it has been cured for 28 days, since concrete strength increases with curing time.

cube compression strength
résistance à la compression sur cube

Explanation:
Seems to be a very widely used term; note that some writers omit 'la'.

I suggest you try a bit of Googling to see if the sources found are authoritative enough for you — they certainly seemed it to me, though I haven't investigated further...

I really just wanted to highlight that the key term appears to be 'sur cube', and all the other details (curing time, size of cube, etc.) need to be hung onto that basic framework, I think...
