Medical - Medical (general) / Lou Gehrig's Disease
English term or phrase: cellular housekeeping agent
Hi,

I was reading a NY Times article about Lou Gehrig's Disease and I found this term "cellular housekeeping agent" I would like to know what would be a good transaltion into Spanish.

The complete sentence is: A cellular housekeeping agent that normally helps cells to clear away proteins that are damaged or misfolded.

I understand what it means, but I am not sure if you can use : Un agente limpiador de las celulas que las ayuda a eliminar las proteinas dañadas o mal plegadas.

Thanks in advance!!

mecanismo de selección celular
Explanation:
although not a medical term, as such , it may be inferred that said mechanism exists to select "the fittest". In fact, in medical terminology, this mechanism is called "homeostasis" and you might look it up and see how you can adapt it. It needs a bit of knowledge to understand the term, but I am sure you will catch it. Good luck!

neutral  M. C. Filgueira: No entiendo qué quisiste decir.
