Spanish term or phrase: en casa del jabonero el que no cae se resbala
Estoy traduciendo un poema de Borges. La estrofa en cuestión dice lo siguiente:

Varón de ánimo parejo
en la buena y en la mala;
“en casa del jabonero
el que no cae se refala”.

Se sobreentiende que está escrito "refala" y no "resbala" sólo para indicar la pronunciación de dicho varón. En todo caso, ¿que quiere decir esta frase, sobre todo en este contexto? Hay algún refrán correspondiente en ingles? Gracias

o en casa del herrero, cuchillo de palo--ésta la escuché recientemente en casa de un arquitecto cuya casa carecía de apropiadas terminaciones eléctricas; or in English they say, The smith's mare is the worse shod.
