VAT No EL

Explanation:

What most people don’t seem to know is that *VAT No* really stands for Value Added Tax Identification Number. People in Greece get a tax identification number for fiscal purposes. So for people who are not VAT-registered, one cannot use VAT No. Persons (companies or individuals) who register for VAT, use the same tax identification number.
Greek or foreign companies based in Greece, in their international dealings, do not use lengthy forms such as “tax registration number” or “VAT registration number” or even the shorter VAT Reg. No, nor other abbreviations that may be incomprehensible to most foreigners. They go for the simpler and internationally recognized “VAT No” and, if they are sticklers for EU regulations, they use “VAT No EL”. That’s all there is to it.
