This is about Kafka's attempts to join up for WW1:

"Kafka wurder 1915 ... zur III. Ersatzkompagnie des k.u.k. Infanterie-Regiments Nr. 28 eingeteilt."

I'm guessing at "3rd reserve company" but I don't know about the "k.u.k." TIA for any help!
