German term or phrase: thesaurierende Anteile
This comes up in the offering prospectus of an investment fund (Anlagefonds luxemburgischen Rechts), the entire para reads:

I don't understand the use of the participle "thesaurierende" in this context - why not "thesaurierte"? (Reinvested shares [units] rather than reinvesting shares [units])
Does this want to say that the returns generated by the shares / units are reinvested, and should the translation therefore read: "reinvesting shares [units]"? Doesn't sound right to me ...

Please only answers from people with relevant experience. TIA

accumulation shares
Explanation:

Thank you! It was a tough call to make a choice between the excellent answers of both Ralf and Astrid. Astrid gets the points because her suggestion enables me to get away from "reinvesting units" and it seems that "accumulation shares/units" is in fact more widely used.

reinvesting shares/units

Explanation:
Using "thesaurierend" (and therefore: "reinvesting") is ok, since the profits on these shares/units (whatever you use for this projects) will be reinvested. "Thesaurierte Anteile" would probably indicate a structure where additional units/shares are issued as a way of reinvesting profits (although this is unusual).

I found a sentence in my translation memory that gets pretty close:

EN: "The "principle of transparency” is also applicable to investors holding fund certificates as private assets: as with a direct investment, they must declare dividends paid by xxxxx Bank AG to the investment fund regardless of whether these are distributed by or reinvested in the investment fund."
