Sobrevida mediana sin progresión

La sobrevida sin progresión es una medida bastante "cruda" en términos estadísticos. No refleja tan bien las probabilidades de sobrevida como la sobrevida actuarial (en donde sí se calcula una progresión), pero es + fácil de entender a partir del simple examen de los números (en este caso, meses de sobrevida).
Aquí aparte es importante diferenciar entre "mean" (media) y "median" (mediana).
La media es el simple promedio aritmético, y está muy influido x valores extremos. La mediana, en cambio, es un valor central de posición y raramente coincide con la media.
Te paso un ejemplo:
Median is simply the middle piece of data, after you have sorted data from the smallest to the largest. In your nest example, you sort the numbers first: 1, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 5, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6 eggs. There is an even number of values, so the middle (or median) is between the first and second 4. Because they are the same, we can easily say that the median is four, but if they were different, say if the median was between a 3 and a 4, we would do (3+4)/2=3.5.

Me gustaría clarificar esto una vez más: en Estadística (que es el \"field\" específico de esta pregunta de Maria), las 3 medidas más básicas de dispersión (también llamadas \"de tendencia cnetral\") son:
- Media o promedio
- Mediana
- Modo
(Luego viene el desvío estándar)
Llamarle \"media\" a la \"mediana\" es tan erróneo como llamarle en inglés \"mean\" a la \"median\".
