En un estudio sobre contaminación de aguas embotelladas:

"Sin embargo, la resistencia exhibida por las cepas evaluadas frente a los **CAQ del grupo de los benzalconios (C12)**, no puede ser explicada en base a lo anteriormente expuesto ya que ciertas investigaciones han encontrado que la membrana externa de P. aeruginosa no está implicada en la penetración de éstos a la célula (Guérin-Méchin et al, 2004), por lo que futuras investigaciones podrían orientarse a dilucidar este punto."
