Hoje em dia, offshoring tem conotação com deslocação para as chamadas zonas offshore, que beneficiam de regalias e isenções fiscais especiais, nomeadamente, o que não é de todo, o caso. Por outro lado, a palavra deslocalização está absolutamente consagrada para designar a transferência de empresas ou partes delas para países com custos mais baixos.
