Dutch term or phrase: 'in min'
Person here is talking about an in-house training course he's done: finance for non-financial managers (initiates people with no financial training into the mysteries of financial management). X is the cargo handling company he works for.

“Als ik nu het financieel verslag van X inkijk, schrik ik niet meer van wat ‘in min’ staat. Ik kan de verschillende kostenposten beter interpreteren, bijvoorbeeld dat onder de kostprijs van een kraan ook de afschrijving ervan thuishoort.”

disagree  Kitty Brussaard: In accountancy/bookkeeping, debit amounts are conventionally shown as positive amounts. 'Bedragen in min' are credit amounts :-)

-> Je hebt gelijk, ik schrik van een schuld aan anderen (credit), niet van een schuld aan mij (debit). Wel zeg je "I have a debt" en dat betekent dat je geld aan derden schuldig bent.... Hoogst verwarrend! Ik ga een nieuw antwoord invullen!

agree  Mark Straver: "Baten" vs. "kosten" in a report like that, being assets and liabilities in English; so it would be on the liabilities side or something to that effect.

minus (amounts)

Explanation:
Perhaps to refer to 'minus amounts' comes closest to the original text, which has a rather colloquial style and is also uttered (according to your information) by a 'financial dummy' :-)

We already said that it is universally agreed that Liabilities are considered "minus" amounts that we call Credits. The list above tells you that somehow ...

negative numbers

Explanation:
Vind ik een betere oplossing dan deb(i)t - verwarrend (& fout dus).
For a long time, negative solutions to problems were considered "false" because they could not be found in the real world (in the sense that one cannot, for example, have a negative number of seeds). The abstract concept was recognised as early as 100 B.C. – 50 B.C. A Chinese work, Nine Chapters on the Mathematical Art (Jiu-zhang Suanshu), contains methods for finding the areas of figures; red counting rods were used to denote positive coefficients, black rods for negative. The Chinese were also able to solve simultaneous equations involving negative numbers. The ancient Indian Bakhshali Manuscript, which was written at some time between 200 B.C. and A.D. 300, [1] carried out calculations with negative numbers, using "+" as a negative sign. These are the earliest known uses of negative numbers.

neutral  Mark Straver: The financial term for costs on a balance or report is liabilities; it all depends on how "formal" the context is.
