Explanation:
In light the deafening silence, I thought a bit of commentary might help. From the sound of it, 'vertrek' means the departure or exit of a study subject before the planned end of the study, while terugtrekking means withdrawal (of treatment?).

However, I'm by no means an expert in the field, and my interpretatin may be wrong or the accepted terminology may be different.

San: I see where you're coming from with 'basic' (as in vertrekpunt = point of departure = basic assumption). 'Vertrekvoorval' gets no ghits, while 'vertrekcriteria' gets exactly one at www.ua.ac.be/download.aspx?c=*ECOBE&n=16286&ct=011423&e=249... .
Maybe 'vertrekvoorval' is a coinage with the meaning 'instance that satisfies (one or more of) the vertrekcriteria'.

Notes to answerer
Asker:

Asker: Hi Ken, thanks for trying to help. I was wondering whether the 'vertrek' meant 'basic' as it was also used in the following sentence: Het percentage proefpersonen dat wordt geïdentificeerd als personen die minimaal voldoen aan tenminste 1 van de volgende vertrekcriteria tegen Dag 112 in relatie tot de start van de terugtrekking van achtergrond AED’s wordt gezien als de primaire werkzaamheidsvariabele.
