social purpose company Explanation: a few sites refer to it as this - specifically Belgian legal entity, non-profit (vennootschap met sociaal oogmerk, as Bryan says, or société à finalité sociale, SFS, in French), e.g. http://www.community-wealth.org/_pdfs/articles-publications/... Use of inverted commas would be preferable to show it's something out of the ordinary, perhaps even a description. Or the RSVZ glossary offers "company pursuing a social goal" http://www.rsvz.be/en/tools/glossary/vso.htm but it doesn't get much support. |

social profit organi(z/s)ation / charity / charitable organi(z/s)ation Explanation: It's either...
1) social profit organi(z/s)ation 2) charity or 3) charitable organi(z/s)ation
Pretty standard and all used with equal frequency. In line with other legal entities. To be contrasted with non-profit organizations (vzw, vennootschap zonder winstoogmerk), which may not necessarily have any social aims. |

social enterprise Explanation: Just offering another option. SE is defined as: “an organization or venture that advances its primary social or environmental mission using business methods.” (per the Social Enterprise Alliance of the United States) Wiki: A Social enterprise is any for-profit or non-profit organization that applies capitalistic strategies to achieving philanthropic goals. Many commercial enterprises would consider themselves to have social objectives, but commitment to these objectives is fundamentally motivated by the perception that such commitment will ultimately make the enterprise more financially valuable. Social enterprises differ in that, inversely, they do not aim to offer any benefit to their investors, except where they believe that doing so will ultimately further their capacity to realise their philanthropic goals. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_enterprise Social enterprise means "a subject of social entrepreneurship", i.e. legal entity or its part or a natural person which fulfils principles of the social enterprise; social enterprise must have appropriate trade license. |
