Can anybody please tell me the equivalent qualification in english (UK)?
I do know what it stands for, but I need the exact term.

To Edith,
I did have a look at the glossary, did read the four suggestions given, did however wonder wether there was actually an equivalent to the term.
Out of the various comments to your answer it became clear that there isn't an exact term I could use, so instead I have used an explanation leaning on the four glossary entries. I like to thank everybody for their comments.

agree  John Bowden: But there isn't an equivalent in the UK, since A-level or equivalent entitles you to go to any type of higher education establishment, whereas with the Fachhochschulrefe you can only go to a Fachhochschule not a "proper" Universität
