English term or phrase: SD
" (Xxxx BDI Mean = 23.44, SD = 2.1 vs. control BDI Mean = 20.33, SD = 2.1). [....] (p = .001; Xxxx BDI Mean = 6.08, SE = 1.8 vs. control BDI Mean = 18.04, SE = 1.8)."

Any suggestions on how to translate SE and SD? I can't find a good translation for them and I'm not sure whether they can be left in the Italian version.
This is from a psychology research paper about the effects of different treatments on patients with depressions. The comparison between mean values refer to a treatment group and a control group.
Thank you :-)

standard deviation
Explanation:
= deviazione standard = DS.
SE is standard error (errore standard), but you didn't ask about that.

Explanation:
Just in case this really is an EN to IT question. If you can't do standard deviation, you can't do epxerimental psychology.
