French translation: compliance pénienne (s'il s'agit ici du critère physique)

English to French translations [PRO] Medical - Medical (general) / étude clinique
English term or phrase:sexual compliance
XXX conducted an open-label pilot study to evaluate the effect of "YYYY" on sexual compliance and reproductive outcome in a group of sexually healthy men treated for infertility.
"J'avais proposé "compliance sexuelle" en deuxième recours, mais sincèrement je ne savais pas que sa définition était celle expliquée par Catherine;" --- that's the whole point of what I called the verbal fog created by euphemisms - you think you know what it is about, but you don't really know, unless/until you're in the know.

Ok so it seems that it could be "viagra" that is sildenafil: Treatment of sexual dysfunctions secondary to male infertility with sildenafil citrate. Jannini Emmanuele A - - 2004 With the assumption that infertility and related diagnostic and therapeutic processes are stressful, an uncontrolled pilot study was designed to evaluate the effect of sildenafil citrate on sexual compliance and reproductive outcome. A group of sexually healthy men were studied after the administration of 50 mg sildenafil before semen collection ...
If so, the definition of Catherine about "sexual compliance", that is "remplissage pennien" is MUCH correct !!!!
So, it would be nice if orgogonzo could confirm that the drug under assai is this one since, as usual, the lack of context brought many of us on various roads (i.e. psychiatric disorder) that would not apply in case of sildenafil.
In fact, even without Google, "un médicament bien connu chez les hommes d'un certain âge qui peuvent en avoir l'utilité" should be more than enough as a clue. That's transparent enough.

Whao Sir! seems that we have to' discover the original Bible:) i tried but did not found anything unequivocal for that trial. thanks anyway:)
I don't want to be accused of "aiding and abetting" by giving you the recipe, but if you ask Google the right question the top hit is about XXX. Which then helps a lot to see through the verbal fog of euphemisms.
As for the real meaning, in English, of "sexual compliance" - well it's not strictly speaking the "real meaning" it's ONE meaning that you can find quickly on the web, not necessarily the only one (patently the case here), and occasionally (rarely, true) what you find on the web is not even the most usual meaning.
In the quoted web reference "sexual compliance" is misused as euphemism - to avoid putting something as unpleasant to hear as "near-rape under peer pressure". That meaning for "sexual compliance" simply doesn't fit - no point in forcing round pegs in square holes. No one would organise clinical trials about near-rape under peer pressure.
These two can not be put together - so what has to be lobbed in the bin: the ST? - or a meaning that doesn't fit at all, even if it's the only one available on the Web?

Hy Daryo, you're right ! If we could know some more about the drug under trial, we could for sure be more precise. Your hypothesis is correct (as discussed by Catherine) but you cannot exclude "a priori" the real meaning, in English, of "sexual compliance" that could be, as well, the primary outcome of the triial. A clinical trial is not always aimed to treat physiological troubles, but many of them also are aimed to treat psychological syndromes.
A dictionary of euphemisms (or slang) can be a very entertaining reading. But when a euphemism pops up without warning in front of you, one is not amused. It takes about 5 seconds on Google to find out which "secret" product we are talking about here. A clinical trial would be organised to evaluate some measurable effect of XXX, and that confirmed effect would the indication for the product once it's approved for use. As it happens, we already know what are the clinical indications of XXX, the trial being run only to test some additional effects i.e. "reproductive outcome". Thus by a method of elimination we can get to the meaning of "sexual compliance" as used in this context. Given the known indication of XXX "la compliance = la capacité érectile = le volume de sang dans la verge pendant l'érection. À rapprocher de la compliance pulmonaire." is on the right track. In this case "sexual compliance" is the compliance of the organ to the desires of its owner, not about a person unwillingly "complying" under peer pressure. It's purely physiological - the action of XXX on corpus cavernosum - localised increase in blood pressure; that's a parameter for a clinical trial.

désir sexuel
Explanation: A la limite "compliance sexuelle". Très difficile à traduire car la définition de "sexual compliance" est très précise et complexe: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19662565 Sexual compliance (i.e., willingly engaging in sexual activity that one does not desire) is a common behavior among young people.
