neutral  Tony M: I think that's over-interpretation; the source term 'trip out' (note: intransitive verb!) suggests it is the condenser itself, unlike if it were 'to trip (sthg)' (transitive verb); and it might not be an actual 'circuit disconnect' trip.

  -> 'le circuit/l'installation' is not an "external device" :) My suggestion just says that the condenser breaks the circuit, whatever the method used. This translates the meaning well imo (if not the litteral words... but do condensers 'trip out'? not sure)

agree  Tony M: Yes, we don't know here exactly what element is actually 'tripped', but this is just the sort of term used when, for example, a boiler 'trips out'. Also 'se met en alarme'.
