conception conjointe matériel-matériel Explanation: the term to translate is in fact "hardware/hardware co-design"; question of parsing: "co-hardware/hardware design" is not "co-hardware design + hardware" design", (of which "co-hardware design" is a total nonsense anyway) but "co-(hardware+hardware) design" i.e. "joint design of (hardware+hardware)" i.e. the joint design of two elements of hardware, here the microchip and the corresponding motherboard, which are usually designed separately. this term "co-hardware/hardware design" or less confusingly "hardware/hardware co-design" was obviously coined on the model of the established term "hardware/software co-design"/"conception conjointe logiciel-matériel" as in "Conception conjointe logiciel-matériel et microprocesseur embarqué, validation sur plateforme FPGA ..."
