agree  Tony M: Of course, this is the specific implication of stall as it is being used here! (note the EN is a bit dodgy!)

disagree  Tony M: Not in this specific context. Here it's not describing the actual TYPE of seat itself, but the LOCATION of it: as you say yourself, « d'orchestre » — that's the only part that matters in this context.

stalls seat
place « orchestre »

Explanation:
Strictly speaking, it should be 'stalls' — 'seats in the stalls'; in this theatrical usage, it doesn't exist in the singular ('a stall seat' would be a 'stalle', but that's only in church!)

However, the meaning here is clear enough: a seat in the main body of the auditorium (i.e. not in the circle = balcon)

Row 7 would usually be quite a good seat, fairly close to the front, and hence, to the stage...

neutral  Victoria Britten: Yes for "orchestre", but they're usually known as "fauteuils"
6 mins
  -> Yes, but in terms of seat reservations, we talk about 'places': 'places assises', 'places debout', 'places dans le carré VIP', etc.

disagree  SylvieLH: le terme exact est stalle
10 mins
  -> Not in modern usage, and certainly not in this context of reserving seats — it's not talking about the actual form of the seat itself!

agree  Claire Lamaison: Yes indeed !
11 mins
  -> Merci, Claire !
