I'm not sure it is necessary (possible?) to render the 'hold-down' aspect (i.e. serrage dans le sens vertical) — it really all depends if this system involves 'holding' in any other diections as well, implying the need therefore to dofferentiate or not; I suspect probably not. If your overall 'système de serrage' is simply intended for holding things down by its very nature, then that detail may not be relevant.

As so often between EN and FR, one language frequenly emphasizes the function, whereas the other will describe the form — so it would almost certainly help for you to look at images of this system to see what actual form this part takes.

The manufacturer does indeed refer to 'vertical hold-down' and 'horizontal hold-down' — hence the -down element doesn't have a 'geographical' sense, so we are back to the simple notion of clamping.

Perhaps 'élément [or: pièce?] de maintien'?
