English term or phrase: A hold process
Dear everyone,
I came a cross this phrase in a document about corporate records and information management and I am a little at a loss as to its real meaning and how I could translate it properly.

Context:

There is a hold process, but it is not well-integrated with the organisation’s information management and discovery processes.

Any help would be much appreciated

This is a 20,000 word translation and this "Hold process" thing only appears in one or two paragraphs, and every time it appears, it always has something to do with "Discovery" - which the Termium defines as "a situation were there is an investigation preceding a civil trial, and where the company needs to provide the appropriate documents in a timely manner". This implies that the said documents should not be archived nor destroyed, but put "on hold" in some sort of an in-between status so that they can be handed in when requested by the officials conducting the investigation/interrogation.
Failure to find a French equivalent out there, I believe kashew's suggestion is the most appropriate.

neutral  GILLES MEUNIER: pas hold dans le sens de mise en attente mais d'archivage ici : corporate records and information management
