Well, yes, it IS a noun — but it is the noun for a measurement unit!

Plenty of reference information online about it, but in essence, it's as straightforward as that!

Yes, in fact, Helen has pointed out my mistake: the actualy unit itself is indeed the 'dioptrie' — mea culpa!

Asker: Thank you for this. Actually when I wrote "noun" I did not put the whole info. This is the definition of dioptre in the dictionnary: (optique) surface entre des milieux transparents d'indices de réfraction distincts Therefore I did not take it as a measurement unit. Thank you for your help.
