here you can't literally say "as a by-product" = "comme un sous-produit", you have to look behind this clumsy figure of style.

The main characteristic of a "by-product" is that it is the secondary result of making some main product, so anything along the lines of "welcome secondary effect" "positive collateral effect" "comme retombé" "as a consequence ..." would be fine.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think you're misunderstanding the overall sense here, which is leading you astray. I believe the idea is meant to be "We want to be a distributor-centred company, and if as a welcome side-effect of that, our distributors are successful..."

So we're really talking about a 'retombé' — to be honest, the use of 'by-product' is a bit questionable in the EN; I think something like 'spin-off' would have been much more appropriate!

Perhaps an 'à-côté'?
