Induction for Security Staff

When working with the company we want you to work safely such that you do not get hurt. We also want to make sure that the way you are working does not create a risk of hurting your workmates.

As a member of Security staff, your primary responsibility is to keep RT premises secure at all times. You would:

- Man the main gate and keep track of employees and visitors entering and leaving premises.
- Deal with unsolicited visitors
- Man intruder and fire alarm systems if installed
- Attend and receive after hours phone calls
- Receive suppliers and vendors and alert appropriate staff
- Handover and receive mails/ couriers
- Maintain appropriate register of visitors and deliveries

A few precautions help in safe operations

Personal Protective Equipment

• Company requires that you wear the proper uniform that must include clean clothes, appropriate shoes and cap.
• Other equipment may include raincoat, torch, a baton, whistle to alert for intruders.
• Firearms are prohibited.

What is meant by induction here? The meaning suggested by my dictionaries do not seem to fit. Does it mean instruction or something else?

Thanks in anticipation.
