In the sentence:
"I'm a retired sergeant from the New York city police department"

If I translated it as:

انا رقيب متقاعد بشرطة (نيويورك)

It would be weird bec. it seams as if رقيب متقاعد is a police rank or sth!

So how this can be best translated?
