Regarding where I found the words: I had to translate "kornethorn" into Spanish, and as I had no idea what that instrument was, I began to investigate, only to get more and more confused... Not an easy one! Thanks everybody for your valuable input!
I agree with your guess on 'kornethorn'; I found no definition, only placed as a brass instrument, and a lot of 'kornethorn' for sale.
Now I just searched the ODS dictionary as well, and here it actually states that "kornet" in Danish can also be used to describe both instruments.
See http://ordnet.dk/ods/opslag?id=481379
However, my guess would still be that "kornethorn" refers to the modern kornet if this is the term you have in your text, since "horn" on its own is normally used to refer to brass instruments.
It looks as if a 'zink' is a Middle Age woodwind (English, Italian: 'cornetto'), and a 'kornethorn' a brass instrument.
Curious: Where did you find these two words?

kornethorn
Explanation: Kornethorn is a music instrument - zink is a material.
Asker: Yes, thanks, I know Zink is a material. But I believe it's also the name of an instrument, and I would like to know if it the same instrument as the kornethorn.

They are names of the same old musical instrument but in different languages. Zinck is in German, cornet is in French. The instrument used since the XI century, especially popular in XVI-XVIII centuries and out of use by the XIX century. They were made of wood and could be straight or lightly curved. The modern cornet-a-piston is a different instrument

Now I found a good site in English http://www.blackdiamondbrass.com/tpthist/trpthist.htm
A relevant bit from the site:
The Other Cornet
A family of instrument that gets too little attention these days is that referred to as the cornet, cornett, cornetti, zinck, and a variety of other names. These were lip-vibrated aerophones made of either horn or wood, and which were played either with or without a mouthpiece. In the latter case, the mouthpiece was carved right into the instrument. They deserve mention here because they bear the same name, they were a lip-vibrated aerophone, they had a conical bore, they had a cornet-like sound, and they played an important role in early Western music.
Many find them devilishly hard to play, because the mouthpiece diameter is much smaller than that of the modern cornet/trumpet.
