English to English translations [PRO]
Law/Patents - Business/Commerce (general) / Dividend payment
English term or phrase: "base date", "effective date"
I'm a Thai translator. I'm translating a financial statement of a Japanese company from English into Thai. In terms of dividend payment, I'm not sure what the "base date" and "effective date" stand for.

Thank you.

neutral  Ildiko Santana: Rather confusing... The question was posted as English - English monolingual, the asker claims to be translating from English into Thai, you post Japanese terms for an answer but in place of an explanation you refer to the reference comment...? ;)

Reference information:
'Base date' refers to the date from which something is calculated, usually a date on which something started -- in your case, it is the date from which the dividend interests are calculated.

'Effective date' means the date upon which something is considered to take effect -- in your case, it is when one's share of the dividend becomes valid.

There are a lot of explanations on Wiki, Google, etc. Good luck!
