English term or phrase: 10 square - 333 sq ft
Hi all,
I'm terrible at math and don't understand this phrase - what could be 10 square and add up to 333 sq feet? 10 square what? Feet? Wouldn't that be 100 sq ft? I'm so confused. We're talking about material here. Can anyone illuminate me? Thanks!!

Three bundles are known as a square.

Tony is right, there is an inconsistency. It seems that sometimes a square is 100 square feet, and sometimes 33.3 square feet. Maybe it's a regional thing. In your case a square is 33.3 square feet.

neutral  Tony M: Don't quite see the logic; it would seem from what you say as if a square in fact = one bundle?

-> I think that a square is supposed to be a hundred square feet and the size of a bundle can vary (25, 33.3 square feet etc.)

agree  jccantrell: Absolutely. We are getting our roof done, and the shingles are sold in 'squares.'
