Bus/Financial - Construction / Civil Engineering / Lease
English term or phrase: Let out on hire
It is a (Singapore) memorandum of Association. The company is describing its activities for involvement.

"to buy, sell, manufacture, repair, alter, improve, exchange, let out on hire, import, export and deal in all works, plant, machinery, etc."

I found translations in other languages for the term, yet with no English resource, and afraid of misinterpreting it.

Is it simply to "lease"?

lease or rent
Explanation:
It is a slightly awkward way of saying it, but it does mean to make available for rent or lease as opposed to purchase

HERE IS AN EXAMPLE FROM A UK GOVT WEBSITE

Houseboats - sale or let out on hire

In reference to VAT tax rates

ANOTHER UK EXAMPLE, perhaps that's why it sounds odd to my American ear.

Will supervision by a responsible person of the age of 16 years or over be provided at all times while horses from the Establishment are used for providing instruction in riding or let out on hire for riding (except in the case of a horse let out for hire for riding when the hirer is competent to ride without supervision)?
