English to English translations [Non-PRO] Art/Literary - Education / Pedagogy / South African educational system | | English term or phrase: diploma student | "Working in the library is not his only employment. On Wednesday afternoons he assists with first-year tutorials in the Mathematics Department; on Fridays he conducts diploma students in drama through selected comedies of Shakespeare; and in the late afternoons he is employed by a cram school to coach dummies for their Matriculation exams."
The person in question is in his last year at Cape Town University, majoring mathematics and literature. The author is from South Africa, and the text is from a novel. I imagine a "diploma student" is a student in his/her last year of school, but i can't find it in any dictionary. So can you please help me what it actually means? |
