English term or phrase: console baffle
It is a part of gas grills. I don't know anything else about it. It's in a list and there is no explanation. I know what a console is. But what is a baffle? Console baffle? Does anybody know?

guard over the top of the controls

Explanation:
This is a piece of (I would assume) plastic that sticks out between the grill and the controls for it to prevent the user getting burned when adjusting the controls - it deflects the heat away when the grill is turned on.

agree  Goldcoaster: I prefer guard becuase it doesn't necessarily only deflect heat but also protects against cooking splatters (e.g. oil)

Reference information:
There are lots of meanings for baffle. Since you said you are translating about a grille, it's possible that it means diffuser, meaning a plate that distributes heat evenly. I would translate it as heat diffuser.
