Tech/Engineering - Engineering (general) / Machine documentation
English term or phrase: United States based
Part on "Documentation" of a technical documentation for clean room work written by a German technical writer.
He gave me this passage for a quick look and I'd rather ask an American native.
Hyphen(s) or no hyphen?
The whole sentence is:

"Parts:
Critical spare parts must be stored in a t least one continental *United States based* warehouse."

Please also let me know if you notice anything else.
BTW: Is "critical" correct in this context?
I am just so tired, I can't think straight.
Thanks for your help and comments in advance.
Regards,
Christina

"ATIS is a United States based body that is committed to rapidly developing and promoting technical and operations standards for the communications and related information technologies industry worldwide using a pragmatic, flexible and open approach."

The term is used with and without a hyphen, but you don't have to add it.

If you need a reference on critical spare parts here's one. There at more than 500,000 google hits, the first part of which are almost all relevant.

"The critical spare parts (CSP) is essential to machine operation, which is also more expensive, have longer purchasing lead time and larger demand variation than non-critical spare parts. When the equipment is operating, critical spare parts required to be changed due to wear and tear. Excessive critical spare parts will cause accumulation of the inventory and insufficiency will cause termination of machine operation, thereby leading to loss. Therefore, it is an important issue to devise a way to forecast the future required amount of CSP accurately."
