English term or phrase: response before reaction
Here are some of the most common and frequently observed ‘team’ meeting behaviours…

> Team members take opinionated & subjective positions, turning away from objective assessment.
> Problems are massaged a little then brushed over, so real causes are rarely identified.
> Finger pointing, blame and recrimination get in the way of a proper analysis of facts.
> Personal and positional power plays dominate at the expense of balance and behaviour moderation.
> Emotions rule and reactions are knee-jerked, with little thoughtful discussion & considered responses.
> Team members try ever harder to improve performance but only increase frustration.

In other words we seem to be historically incapable of putting objectivity before subjectivity; causes before symptoms; facts before blame; behaviour before politics; ***response before reaction***; and a structured process before simply trying harder.

What's exactly the difference between response and reaction? Is response just a structured/planned reaction to a given context?

Thanks for your inputs.

English translation:considered (objective) response before knee-jerk (subjective) reaction
Explanation:
The words "response" and "reaction" are sometimes interchangeable, but here a contrast is being made between a useful thought process (response) and a poorly considered, usually highly subjective, spontaneous "reaction".

As in, "I reacted without thinking".

agree  Tony M: Yes, in the way that animals may react to a stimulus, but this is not necessarily a response based on any process of reasoning.

Sorry for missing letters, I mean "stereotypical" -idea of a type of person or thing is a fixed general idea that a lot of people have about it, that may be false in many cases.

In other words: "we cannot overcome our predispositions":we are unable to put objectivity before subjectivity.

disagree  Tony M: Same comment as Cilian. / Please do not make personal remarks! I am perfectly aware that the prefix 'pre-' implies 'before' — but how does that relate in any way to the question asked?

-> It's all Kantian, henames many more steps, but certainly-response before reaction is A CORRESPONDING IDEA: perception first, comprehension second(conditioned by stereotype in this case-response according) and reaction the third.
