The course consists of four assessed modules and a six person-month individual project carried out in the department.

Most modules have an associated assessed exercise, which takes approximately 35 hours. Three modules involve closed examinations. The project is examined by dissertation; the amount of time required to complete it is approximately six person-months.

Person-month is a measure of work effort. Other similar measures are person-day and person-year.

Calculation:
If a project will take 2 months to finish with 3 people working full time on it, the project requires 2*3 = 6 person-month effort.

If an employee worked 20 days on a project, his contribution to the project is 1*20/30 = 0.6666 person-month. (Note that month is considered 30 days in such calculations.)
