agree  British Diana: the "stomach" is a bit of an euphemism anyway, as the actual digestive organ is not itself involved, it is rather the fat which is beginning to gather around this region.//Yes, but "abdomen" is not normally used in a description of a person, or is it?

  -> Yes, technically, the gut is the bowels or lower intestinal canal. But in common use, gut refers to the belly/stomach region. I guess abdomen or abdominal area is a more accurate description of the part of the body beginning to show a bit extra weight/fat
