Law/Patents - Law: Contract(s)
English term or phrase: thereto
"Licences and warranties will be subject to those license terms and warranties as provided by the licensor/manufacturer of the software and applicable thereto."

In this phrase, what does "thereto" refer to actually? Applicable licenses and warranties?

Would you rephrase this sentence in plain english, please? Thank you

Explanation:
Thereto refers to the software. Since this is legal language, I would not reword the sentence but translate it as literally as possible (as long as it is understandable in the target language).

agree  Jonas Teixeira: You're quite right. Optionally, the sentence would be rewritten as follows: "... license terms and warranties applicable to the software, as provided by its licensor/manufacturer". Original construction is a little too wordy, don't you think so?

-> Yes, your suggestion would work well - thank you.

neutral  fourth: "thereto" is not recommended in post Victorian times and would not be supported by current legal drafters

-> I have seen it many times, but in any case this is not about English and the 'oldfashionedness' may not be noticeable in translation.
