English term or phrase: Next shrine was founded in the same place by Maria Kazimiera Sobieska as a votive offering for salvaging her life.
Next shrine was founded in the same place by Maria Kazimiera Sobieska as a votive offering for salvaging her life.

I don't like the sentence as it is. How to improve it?
Here's the whole passage:

Before the end of 1673 the wooden shrine was burned down by Tartars. Next shrine was founded in the same place by Maria Kazimiera Sobieska as a votive offering for salvaging her life, and when that one was burned too, she founded a beautiful baroque temple, which was consecrated in 1699.

Explanation:
The next/succeeding shrine was set up in the same place/on the same site by Maria Kazimiera Sobieska as a votive offering (in thanks) for the saving of her life

Or this might well be better:

'.... for the sparing of her life'

agree  Craig Meulen: Good suggestions. There's a possible meaning difference between "saving" and "sparing". Difficult to explain clearly, but if more detail of the context was given we could say which is better.

-> Yes,the context would help with that one. Thank you! :-)

agree  Armorel Young: Indeed - the two obvious errors are the omission of "the" at the beginning of the sentence and the inappropriate word "salvaging".

Explanation:
Next shrine was founded in the same place by Maria Kazimiera Sobieska as a votive offering for salvaging her life.

Another shrine was established at the same site by Maria Kazmiera Sobieska, as an expression of gratitude for having survived the XXXX.

Where XXXX would be replaced by whatever natural or manmade event occurred that put her life in danger.

"Next" doesn't really belong here.

agree  Refugio: Yes, and then "founded" in the final sentence could be replaced by "erected". Even though she didn't build it with her own two hands, she was, after all, a queen.

The wooden shrine was burned down by Tartars

Explanation:
before the end of 1673. Another shrine was built on the same site by Maria Kazimiera Sobieska as a votive offering for her salvation and, when that one was burned as well, she erected a beautiful baroque temple, which was consecrated in 1699.

I took "salvaging" to mean "Salvation". I'm not too religious, but it stood to reason that one would build a shrine to a deity in return for "salvation" as opposed to "Saving" a life.
