English term or phrase: pcs. vs. pcs
is the abbreviated form of pieces ended with dot or not according to the English grammar?

English translation:pcs
Explanation:
According to Oxford and other reputed authorities, the full stop [period] is not required at the end of an abbreviation if that abbreviation ends with the normal last letter of the word, which is the case here.

agree  Ambrose Li: The rule is not always followed (e.g. here in Canada), but as far as I can remember I’ve never seen it written with a period.

neutral  B D Finch: Not required doesn't mean that it is wrong to use it. It's a matter of choice.

-> Did I say anything about "wrong"? Asker simply asked if there was a rule... One might simply argue that there is no logical justification for its use, that's all.

neutral  Amel Abdullah: I think there are some differences here between U.S. and U.K. conventions. In the U.S., for example, we always use a period after Dr., but it seems that the British do not. I can't say for sure, but I think most people in the U.S. would write "pcs."

-> Yes, I've noticed that too, though some American style guides seem to confirm; Asker failed to state if she wanted GB or US usage?
