English to English translations [PRO] Medical - Medical (general)
English term or phrase:CT scans
The workup should include complete ENT evaluation of nasopharynx involvement (including Waldeyer’s ring), testicles and skin, performance statues, B symptoms, CBC with differential, platelets, comprehensive metabolic panel, measurement of serum uric acid, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), CT scans with contrast of chest, abdomen and pelvis PET-CT scan with a diagnostic quality CT and dedicated CT of the nasal cavity, hard palate, anterior fossa or MRI of the nasopharynx.
I am not asking the word, I am asking for the whole sentence.
Does it mean:
1. CT scans with contrast of chest, abdomen
2. pelvis PET-CT scan with a diagnostic quality CT
3. dedicated CT of the nasal cavity, hard palate, anterior fossa
4. MRI of the nasopharynx
Or
1. CT scans with contrast of chest, abdomen and pelvis
2. PET-CT scan with a diagnostic quality CT and dedicated CT of the nasal cavity, hard palate, anterior fossa
3. MRI of the nasopharynx
Explanation: They ordered the following:
1. contrast-enhanced CT of chest/abdomen/pelvis
2. PET scan ( is a whole-body scan, so "abdominal or pelvic PET-CT" would make no sense)
3. targeted CT of nasal cavity/hard palate/ant. fossa OR a nasopharyngeal MRI
( can choose the modality)
This is based on my medical knowledge rather than the [missing] punctuation.

Number 2 sentence really means this:
PET-CT scan of the nasal cavity
with a diagnostic quality CT of hard palate and
a dedicated CT of anterior fossa....hope this helps
1.- CTs scans with contrast of chest, abdomen and pelvis
2.- PET-CT scan with a diagnostic quality CT and dedicated CT of the nasal cavity, hard palate, anterior fossa OR
number two maybe replaced by
3.- MRI of the nasopharynx

ct scans
Three CT Scans
Explanation:
Based on comma placement, not my medical (non-)knowledge, I read it as:
1. CT scans with contrast of chest;
2. abdomen and pelvis PET-CT scan with a diagnostic quality CT; and
3. dedicated CT of the nasal cavity, hard palate, anterior fossa
The third CT may be replace with: MRI of the nasopharynx.
The other hint that may help is:
(a) abdomen is located near pelvis
(b) nasal cavity, hard palate, anterior fossa are also located close to each other.
HTH.
