English term or phrase: it was all on Peter's side

I can not understand what this phrase means in this dialogue.

One woman says that her husband fired other woman's nephew, Peter, and the boy has been unable to find a job since then.
Other woman answers: Now, now, dear. That was all on Peter’s side.

It means that it was all Peter's fault; he deserves that, or it is all for his own benefit?
