Religion / Book for Sunday School teachers
English term or phrase: fails
In days before the invention of modern machinery, it fell to the men of the family to tackle jobs needing great physical strength. Trees had to be felled, family homes and sometimes tents erected, drainage channels dug, and so on. [...] The father needed to be a tower of strength and endurance.
Remind the class that Christians have no less a Person than the Maker of the universe to give them strength. He never grows weary. He never ***fails*** or experiences weakness, and all His vast resources of power are available to His sons and daughters. Those who are protected by Him need not fear the storms of life or the devil's threats.

What is the sense here?

agree  Mara Ballarini: another way of putting it - he's totally reliable because he always succeeds

agree  Armorel Young: yes, this is "fail" in the sense of "disappoint, let down, not serve when needed" (OED) - I don't think "being successful" is quite the right implication here

Explanation:
This is not so much to contradict Jack as to offer an answer in the negative, as your question suggests.
