Religion / Book for Sunday School teachers
English term or phrase: terrorised
Manasseh thought with horror of the way he had treated the Lord. Why? Had he any reason to insult the Lord? Was it not God Who had given him a kingdom and a rich inheritance? And what had he done with these? He had used them to mock and to bait his God. His sin had affected others too. Little children had been sacrificed to idols and women ***terrorised***. Many had been drawn under the spell of religious prostitutes. Manasseh must have thought deeply about all his many sins while in his prison.

agree  Jim Tucker: The very same sentence is the one that contains the physical abuse (child sacrifice); in this light, "terrorised" here might well be a euphemism for "raped."
