hiding nothing, being transparent

Explanation:
To stand naked before the court, that is having confessed everything, kept no secrets, (s)he is an open book, has nothing to hide - keeping only her/his dignity.
Not necessarily an offensive term, see article on public disclosures: "Standing Naked Before the IRS" (http://www.cfo.com/article.cfm/9216349)

The email notification I've received suggests the term "may be found offensive" :)

Dear Lisbeth, I believe your comments actually belong in the "Discussion" field (above). You and I are obviously in agreement, it's Diana who doesn't think my answer is correct.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Dear Diana, dignity is in the eyes of the beholder. Even an open heart and soul can never remove the dignity we show in our living. Kind regards Lisbeth

Asker: Isn't dignity really about the choices we make in life and the imprint we leave behind of who we are and were because of the choices we make?

Asker: I apologise for posting in the wrong field, but I am not quite sure how to post again in Dianas field as there appears to be no link to it. Perhaps if I receive another message, I will be able to post directly in her box. Thank you for your help nevertheless.

Asker: Dear ilkido, I am afraid i have no real context. It was just something I thought about this morning when I woke up. I am afraid I have probably broken all the rules of ProZ as this is not really officially to do with a business translation. It is just somehting I pondered about and now that I have read the lyrics of the song by Bob Dylan, It's alright Ma, I think I came a little bit closer in understanding. I guess my question may now be taken off since it is not strictly within the rules of ProZ to post personal questions, but in that case, I will just thank you all for helping me clarify. Thank you, kind regards from Lisbeth

neutral  British Diana: yes, except that actually one has no dignity left, either// Well, I see what you mean, but without knowing much of the context I would think that being stripped naked is usually being bereft of one's dignity,i.e. as a prisoner who is made to strip.

-> "kept my heart and soul to myself" - this part gave me the impression. Apparently the character was able to protect her dignity and integrity. --- Diana, I doubt anyone is naked! It's a metaphor, you see... Actually, I'm not even sure it's a real "court"

agree  Piotr Czyżewski: I also have the impression that the court and the nakedness are metaphorical.

Hiding nothing in court, all the facts revealed

Explanation:
It's just a metaphor, I don't think anyone would find it offensive.

No, I wasn't suggesting it should be changed now, it's not that important.

Notes to answerer
Asker: I just thought that some people may not like the idea of standing naked in public. I don't think I can change it now anyway. The moderators may be able to help if there is general agreeement, that this is not offensive. In that case, I would of course not disagree.

Asker: Ok, since you are all just waking up :-) I will be honest and admit, that I would feel very shy and embarrassed standing naked in front of even my own daughters. Can't help it, sorry. But please don't tell anyone this, since I really do not want anyone to know such en embarrassing secret about me. Kind regards Lisbeth

neutral  John Detre: To me, the wording really sounds more like a personal plea than a legal argument. I don't think it's a literal court but one person talking to another and inviting a non-legal judgement.
