Religion / marriage
English term or phrase: consistently
We know that the word 'partner' has been cheapened today to cover a variety of relationships; however it is used ***consistently*** in this book in the biblical sense of working together in a Christian marriage. The word is too meaningful to surrender.

What is the sense of 'consistently' here? 'In agreement with the biblical meaning' or 'constantly'?

Being in agreement with itself / true to the original meaning of the word

Explanation:
Sometimes the word consistently is used to mean that when a term or reference is used is refers to the same thing every time.

I hope I can explain what I mean:

"We know that the word 'partner' has been cheapened today to cover a variety of relationships" - in this case the connotative meaning of the word has expanded to have multiple meanings, whereas in the bible it refers 'consistently' to the same denotative meaning.

sorry, it should read 'reference is used 'it' refers...

unchangingly

Explanation:
In a way this is what the other suggestions are saying, but allow me to have a try, too:

Consistently means that the definition of "partner" as being "partner in the Biblican sense" holds true every single time the word is used in the book , thus the use of "partner" will be consistent, i.e. unchanging. Tt is in line with the specíal meaning every time, one can rely on this fact always.

The writer is stressing this because nowadays there are other, more superficial or shallow meanings of the word partner (such as a casual sexual partner) and he is worried that if he uses the word the readers will misunderstand him. On the other hand, he says that "the word is too meaningful to surrewnder", i.e. it would be a pity to give up using this word just because it has different connotations today.
