English term or phrase: "her" referring to 'Gate of Heaven'

"The liturgical cult of the Gate of Heaven intensified. The Magisterium of the Church issued a statement on her."

I need to stick to two sentences and the issue is: do I keep "her" referring to 'Gate of Heaven' or do you have anything against? Of course 'Gate of Heaven' refers to Mary and the statement was on 'Gate of Heaven' = Mary's title

Explanation:
The reference back is surely to "the liturgical cult", which is definitely "it". The only way you could keep "her" is to say "The liturgical cult of Mary, the Gate of Heaven", but even then I don't think the Magisterium would presume to make a statement on Mary herself.

Is "cult" feminine in the original language? That would make more sense.

OK - if "Her" is capitalised, then it must refer to Mary. It still won't work in English though!

"Even the Magisterium of the Church issued a statement on the matter" would work, and "even" helps to join the two sentences.

You could say "voiced its opinion on the matter", but not "voiced" on its own.

Asker: No 'cult' would be "it", it is just that the original goes with 'Her' - capitalized and I thought that refers to Mary as Gate of Heaven. Thanks anyway.
