English term or phrase: noun and verb agreement
"Theological reflection, and even more often the piety of believers transforms them in numerous ways [...]"

In the above I would change 'transforms' into 'transform'? Is there any case the 's' could be kept?

English translation:transforms
Explanation:
"Transform" should agree with "reflection," which is a singular noun.

The sentence is missing a comma, though:
"Theological reflection, and even more often the piety of believers, transforms them in numerous ways."

transforms

Explanation:
If the punctuation is corrected by adding a comma after 'believers', it's clear that the subject of the verb 'transforms' is either 'theological reflection' or 'piety of believers'; that means the subject is resolutely singular, therefore transformS, with an 's'.

transforms

Explanation:
what is missing, is a comma after believers. Therefore it should remain transforms, with an s.
