I'm a bit slow off the mark today. It didn't click straightaway that it was an Ugly Betty reference.

Her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend, who's not a nice person anyway, but is even worse now she's pregnant by Betty's b/f, and she wants him back. He, being an honourable (gullible) man decides to support her and splits up with Betty.

Poor Betty is now interested in someone else.
