English term or phrase: actual strategy

Trainer speak to his mixed martial artist

Everything looked real tight in your last match: you're getting the hang of this "actual strategy" stuff.

Actual strategy, between brackets, seems to hint to something more than it's plain meaning. Could it be the name of a fighting style? Or maybe a quote? Any ideas?

English translation:actually having / using a strategy
Explanation:
Without more context, I think the sarcastic "finger quotes" idea makes sense. It sounds to me as if the trainer is saying something like: "The concept of actually having a strategy and sticking to it has been foreign to you in the past, but you're getting better."

how to plan your matches

Explanation:
I don't think there's much more to it than that ... i.e study your opponent's moves and act accordingly

Explanation:
His trainer gives him his reprimand and accuses him of being inflexible by saying that he didn't try to change the tactics.
